Understanding The Colors Of Feng Shui

In Feng Shui it is important to understand the energy of color. It’s not just about picking a color because it looks ‘pretty’; In Feng Shui it is about looking at how color relates to the Five Elements.  These Five Elements are water, fire, metal, wood and earth. These five elements are used to analyze the colors of Feng Shui.

Each Element has its own characteristics and unique energy including color. The following will give you a general idea.

Wood Element

The Wood Element is symbolic of wealth and abundance. The colors of the wood Element are the colors of trees and plants. – Browns, blues, greens

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that money is green!

Fire Element

The fire element is the element of passion, the element of energy, the element of success in your career.

Fire colors include:

- Red spectrum

- Orange

- Yellows

Metal Element

Metal is the element of preciseness and clear thinking. The colors that represent the metal element are:

- Gray

- White

Earth Element

Earth is grounding, nourishing and represents stability. Just like the real Earth nourishes all things upon it the earth colors help you nourish your relationships as well as promoting health and stability in your life. The colors of the earth element are: (Think desert sand)

- Pale yellow

- Beige

- Tan

- Any kind of sand color

Water

Water is the element that represents abundance and a refreshing spirit. The colors of the water element are a dark spectrum of colors:

- Dark Blue

- Black

So now that you are familiar with the colors of the elements of feng shui, you can decide where it’s best to use them. Pink or red is a great color for bedrooms to promote passion, while blue or green would be perfect in the living area.
